Frank Metz has devoted his artistic career to creating masterful oils of solitary coastal scenes, many from the Maine islands and coast. Frank's artistic universe is made up of the most elemental basics: rocks, trees, sky, and water. Though human architecture may be present, people are generally absent. According to one critic, "soft lavenders, earthy greens, grey-blues, off-pinks, muted yellows". His palette and technique evoke a deep serenity.
